VISION AND HEARING SCREENING

The Annual Vision and Hearing Screening will be conducted at Sandridge School Tuesday, November 19th – Thursday, November 21st, 2019.
The Illinois Child Vision and Hearing Test Act (410 ILCS 205) establishes minimum standards for mandated vision and hearing screening in schools and preschools throughout the state, which include the following:  Vision Screening – Shall be provided annually for all preschool children 3 years of age (or older) in any public or private educational program or licensed child-care facility AND for all children who are in Kindergarten, 2nd and 8th grades; in all special education classes; referred by teachers; and transfer students.
*** All children enrolled in Kindergarten in a public, private, or parochial school; and any student enrolled for the first time in a public, private or parochial school, shall have an eye examination by an eye Doctor. ***  Hearing Screening – Shall be provided annually for all preschool children 3 years of age (or older) in any public or private educational program or licensed child-care facility AND for all children who are in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades; in all special education classes; referred by teachers; and transfer students.
PLEASE NOTE: Vision screening is NOT a substitute for a complete eye and vision examination by an eye Doctor. Your child is not required to undergo the vision screening if an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report indicating that an eye examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.
